Joleen is a licensed acupuncturist who is focused on improving the health of the whole person. Before becoming an acupuncturist, she had a career in social work advocating for women and children. She brings this experience to her practice as an acupuncturist by being patient centered and helping her patients find lasting change in their whole health. She loves treating all patients with a focus on digestive health, mental and emotional well-being, pregnancy, and post-partum health. She particularly enjoys working with folks who have never tried acupuncture.
Joleen received her Master’s degree from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She received her BA in Sociology and Gender Studies from Lewis and Clark College.
Joleen has lived in Portland for almost 20 years and is still in love with all that it offers, including good people, good food, and access to the outdoors. When she is not working, she spends time with her young son and husband, camping, cooking and throwing impromptu dance parties in the kitchen.
Joleen believes that acupuncture and Chinese medicine work best when the treatment is individualized and the patient has an active role in their health care plan. She helps patients set their unique goals and supports them in the work it takes to achieve them.
